29,000 Times: Give or Take a Few Thousand

The world’s oldest Chinese priest has died just one month short of his 111th birthday.

Stop and think for just a minute what you would have seen as a Chinese person in the last 111 years.

In 1932 this man of prayer began to pray the 15 decades of the rosary, 15 times daily for peace. In 2002 when John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries, he began to pray the 20 decades of the rosary 20 times daily. That’s roughly 29,000 times that he prayed the rosary in his lifetime and he didn’t start this discipline until he was 35.

He reminds us that we are all called to “pray without ceasing” and that it’s never too late to start. Say your rosaries today in his honor and don’t stop….

Thank you kindly to Causa Nostrae Laetitiae

Petitions of St. Augustine

O Lord, Jesus, let me know myself, let me know Thee,
And desire nothing else but only Thee,
Let me hate myself and love Thee,
And do all things for the sake of Thee,
Let me humble myself, and exalt Thee,
And think of nothing else bu Thee,
Let me die to myself and live in Thee,
And take whatever happens as coming from Thee.
Let me flee from myself, and turn to Thee
That so I may merit to be defended by Thee.
Let me fear for myself, let me fear Thee,
And be amongst those who are chosen by Thee.
Let me distrust myself, and trust in Thee,
And every obey for the love of Thee.
Let me cleave to nothing but Thee,
And ever be poor for the sake of Thee.
Look upon me, that I may love Thee;
Call me that I may see Thee
And forever possess Thee. Amen.

Work as if everything depended on you.
Pray as if everything depended on God.
